SIMPLE LIFE RULES for success - la réussite!
1. Soyons gentils! Let's be VERY nice to each other :)
This is important for life, not just class – you need to be able to get along with all kinds of people. You don’t need to become their best friend, but you need to be polite and kind with them.
2. Soyons positifs!
Nobody wants to be around negative people all the time. Be positive. Your school experience will be so much better, you will have more friends and you will get better marks. We all have to work to learn and to make progress.Take good risks and seize new opportunities. YOLO safely!
3. Faisons toujours de notre mieux! Just DO IT!
You are being marked on what you hand in, so do the best you possibly can. Whatever is going to be marked will be practiced in class, so if you try your hardest on daily work, the tests and assignments will be much easier. PARLEZ FRANÇAIS! (Immersion ?? TOUT LE TEMPS!)
4. SVP Gardons la salle de classe propre! Clean up after yourself!
5. Apportez ce dont vous avez besoin! Pack your phone IN YOUR BACKPACK!
It is really difficult to do your work without your supplies – bring them every day!! Les téléphones cellulaires! (Emploi avec la permission de Madelle) Ça peut être utile!
Pas d’écouteurs! (ipod,MP3,etc.). Keep cell phones IN your backpack. If we need them, I will let you know!
6. Travaillons fort! SILSIP! Say IT Loud, Say It Proud! JUST DO IT!
Homework is not given as a punishment or to keep you from doing fun stuff in the evening. The purpose is to practice what you did in class that day. Most of the time your homework will not take more than 45 minutes (Grade 12s - reading / practice / group work/ juggling different due dates for long term projects)
OR
Grade 9? Expect daily homework of 20 minutes (if you use your time in class productively). Occasionally it may take longer if you are working on a larger assignment. For Grade 9s, working in Madelle's class during Period 3 lunch is also a good way to catch up. Madelle will ask you to do this IF you are not working up to your potential.
All assignments must be completed.
NOT DOING your homework IS NOT AN OPTION! IF you haven't completed an assignment, you will need to talk with me, show me what you have completed so far AND present a "Plan B".
*******Students are expected to manage their own time responsibly and respect all due dates, unless, in extenuating situations and on very rare occasions, the student needs an extension. In such a situation, the student must see me BEFORE the due date.
7. Arrivez de bonne heure ;) ! Come to class on time!
Come to class every day and ready to work. You don’t want to miss anything important. If you must be absent, please have your parents call the school to inform the Office in the morning . Use the Absent Reporting Phone #. If you need to leave during the day, you must also inform the office. Be on time – consistent lates have a negative effect on your mark (you miss stuff) and work habits.
8. Questions - Posez-les !!!
It is important to ask questions if you are not sure about anything, whether it is a point you have learned in class or a homework assignment or a project. If you have a question, probably 5 other people have the same question, so it is important to ask. I run a French clinic during Period 3 Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Room 111) "Au secours".
9. Where is Madelle? Vous me cherchez??
The best way to contact me is e-mail. Mon courriel est [email protected] . Or just come see me in Room 111. That's usually where you'll find me!
IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL!
Students can access class notes and handouts through their Halton Cloud (user name is your HDSB email).
